Design and Looks
The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch measures at 110x51.5x12.7mm and weighs about 105g. The phone has a nice sleek design and gives a good premium look to the phone. The phone has a nice grey metallic finish with a nice red bezel being the only flashy feature.
The right side of the phone comprises of the camera key whereas the left side of the phone uses the volume rocker which has a tactile feedback.
The display on the phone is an AMOLED screen. The pictures are bright and with vibrant colors. The sunlight eligibility is again more than average and does a great job outdoors. The screen measures at 2.8 inches and has a resolution of 240x400 pixels.
Sliding the phone downwards reveals the keypad which is quite spacious with large keys for comfortable and smooth typing. There is nice backlighting included on the phone which makes its easily visible in the dark.
The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch comes along with a new UI and features 3 new homscreens. There are more widgets on the phone which do not overcrowd the home screen and give a nice faster access to various applications onboard the phone.
The music player on the Samsung S8300 now comes equipped with additional visual effects and is a treat to use it. The player allows filtering tracks by author, album and genre. Automatic playlists can also be generated and which could be used as filters too.
The camera on the phone is a striking 8 Megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. It also features autofocus and has a LED flash with the device making it usable for low light shots. The settings on the camera are extensive enough to suit all the creative types.
Some of the settings included are the balance, autofocus parameters, manual ISO (100-1600) settings and image stabilization. The phone incorporates a GPS chip inside the device which helps to geo tag the photos so that the photos could be sorted on locations.
The video player on the phone is capable of playing all major video formats such as DivX and Xvid at 640x480 pixels and does a great job than some of the Smart Phones out there.
Overall the phone is a feature rich phone providing a very high resolution camera , a decent battery and a great UI. The device appeals to high end market and for users with thirst for new features and higher megapixel appetite.
