Design and Looks
The phone is officially the slimmest 8MP camera phone around at a width of just 13.8mm. The 3.2'' display of Samsung M8800 Pixon capable of displaying upto 256K colors on a WQVGA with a 240x400 pixels.
The Pixon is a touch screen phone with no stylus or keys except for the usual call connect/disconnect and a cursor button. The phone has a decent display in broad sunlight and is an improvement over many of the earlier Samsung Phones. The touch screen sensitivity is responsive and the haptic feedback provided is good. The screen can also be calibrated to increase the accuracy. The new TouchWiz is an improved version from the earlier version of TouchWiz and is easy to use with multitasking in offer.
The main highlight of the phone is its 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera can take pictures at a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and supports image stabilization, geo tagging and a whole lot features. The phone boasts off its amazing quality to record videos with an impressive 30fps on WVGA/VGA video recording and 120 fps on a QVGA.
The phone comes with a default file manager which can be used as a gallery application. The feature allows deleting, renaming, editing and viewing all contents on the phone. There is also an advanced image viewer application bundled with the phone.
The Music player on this phone has a nice look and touch features with playlist creation track listing according to author, album, genre etc, fast forward, rewind and various sound effects.
The phone also supports widgets and with the music player widget the user can have a full access of the application by a single tap.
FM radio supports RDS and even comes with an integrated music recognition feature built in it.GPS on the phone is included and the phone comes loaded with Mobile GMaps.
The handset is a quad band and supports 3G with HSDPA, GPRS and EDGE. In addition to it the phone is also capable of connectivity using Bluetooth and USB.The web browser and the organizer on the phone are well built making surfing on the 3.2'' inch screen easy and smooth.
Overall the phone is fun to carry around as it's a complete package. A mere 13.8mms in breadth which makes the phone easily portable. With a prolonged battery life the phone would be an ideal choice for many.
