Design and Looks
Samsung D880 Duos is two phones in one concept with a solid design and good quality Samsung build. The phone is not small keeping in mind the space needed to put two processors and transmitters.
The front panel is made of steel having a glossy finish on it. The bottom half consists of segments of plastic. Overall main parts of the phone comprise of solid durable plastic, also the slide feature is safe and neatly done with no unnecessary registered movements.
The keys on the phone are well built and equally spaced making it much easier to use while typing long messages. The D-pad is also quite responsive, though traditional it's overall comfortable to use.
The right side of the handset comprises of camera button and the interface connector. With the left side there is the volume button and also a button to switching between the two SIMs.
The display is a 2.3" QVGA 256K TFT display capable of 256k colors. But the display is not bright enough in the sunlight which is with most of the Samsung phones.The handset offers its users a 3.0 megapixel camera with autofocus feature with the video quality being decent enough to be uploaded on to YouTube.
The camera takes time for using its autofocus feature but the digital camera works fast and pictures are saved without delays.
The phone is also bundled with an organizer and a document viewer. Among the other offerings are the voice memo recorder, a world time application, calculator and a converter and an MP3 player.
The device comes with Bluetooth and supports great range of profiles. WAP/MMS/Email is all changed according with the SIM and the data transfer and MMS are only available for an active SIM.
The phone offers a unique feature without any compromise on the build quality . The phone unfortunately does not have 3G but does provide a nice 3 megapixel camera. Two SIM cards in one handset would be appreciated by many and if not trouble by lack of 3G the phone is an ideal choice.
